Celebrating 30 Years
Bringing the Wellness of Tomorrow, Today
February 16, 2015
Dear Steve,

Did you know
that until this month's issue of Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, data on the effects of the category of food chemicals called salicylates was virtually non-existent? We are so pleased to see that the study not only stated that an estimated 20% of the human population has food intolerances (we think it is closer to 40%), the authors singled out salicylates as one of the top offenders because of its "pharmacologic" activity. Learn more about this universally ignored food intolerance from our resident salicylate survivor in the newest installment of Care's Corner.

Yes, Mr. Bear...honey is a salicylate!

Have a happy, healthy day. Steve and Bonnie

Vitamin D From the Sun
I'm Getting My Vitamin D From the Sun, Right?

Highly unlikely. To maintain an adequate level of vitamin D, you need daily sunlight exposure for 15 minutes in summer and 20 minutes in early fall or late spring, exposure should occur between 11AM and 2PM, under clear skies, and that the arms, shoulders, and back should be uncovered. Can you accomplish this on a daily basis? I doubt most of us can. If not, supplement!

Bonnie: In this week's Well Connect Feature, we summarize all the glorious research that this vitamin (actually hormone) has bestowed upon us the last few months, including a new genetic component that will take us even further into learning about how best to maintain vitamin D levels.

If you have not already, it is essential to take vitamin D levels seriously for you and your children. A new study from Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, in which children's vitamin D levels were taken in 1980 and followed until last year, found those with the lowest vitamin D levels as children were most susceptible to hardening of the arteries.

Far Infrared Sauna Therapy
One way to thaw out from the deep freeze is to experience Far Infrared Sauna Therapy. We have had one in our office for several years and it does not disappoint.

Aside from the fact that you are taking one hour out of your busy lives to relax, Far Infrared Therapy offers numerous therapeutic benefits, most importantly enhanced detoxification. Many clients use it to relieve painful joints, rev up metabolism, and remove buildup of heavy metals.
