Celebrating 30 Years of
Bringing You the Wellness of Tomorrow, Today
May 4, 2015
Dear Steve,

DID YOU KNOW
that a new study from European Journal of Public Health found that consumption of chamomile tea was linked to lower risk of thyroid cancer? Wonderful to see, but we want to alert you to two important caveats of this study.

First, the rate of thyroid cancer in Greek subjects was already extremely low because most followed a Mediterranean Diet, in addition to the tea. In Greece, 1.6 out of every 100,000 people are diagnosed with thyroid cancer every year, compared with average rates of 13.2 and 5.2 per 100,000 people in the U.S. and Europe respectively. Still, Greek subjects who who drank chamomile tea two to six times a week were about 70% less likely to develop thyroid abnormalities.

Second, chamomile tea can be a healthful beverage unless you are ragweed allergic. Chamomile is a member of the ragweed family, making it major cross-reactor orally and topically.

SCHEDULING NOTE: Summer can be very busy for us because kids of all ages are out of school. Many parents bring their kids in summer because there is more time to implement dietary changes before going back to school. Don't wait until the end of the summer to get your kids' dietary lifestyle in order!

Have a happy, healthy day. Steve and Bonnie
