Boost Holiday Mood
Bonnie and Steve: There is one essential nutrient that cannot only get you through the holidays, but also boost your mood.

Researchers and clinicians are finally discovering the benefits magnesium can bring for mood and mood disorders.

According to a new study in PLOS One, current treatment options for depression are limited by efficacy, cost, availability, side effects, and acceptability to patients. Their study looked at the efficacy of over-the-counter magnesium supplements for helping depression symptoms.

After six weeks of 300 mg. magnesium supplementation daily, there was a clinically significant six point net improvement in Patient Health Questionnaire-9 scores and net improvement in Generalized Anxiety Disorders-7 scores of 4.5 points. The supplements were well tolerated and most participants reported they would use magnesium in the future. Effects were observed within two weeks.

Most important was the authors final statement: "Magnesium is effective for mild-to-moderate depression in adults."

It's not good enough if you are the only one who takes it. If everyone around you is taking it, then your mood will be that much better because their moods will be better!

So tell your family, your friends, and your coworkers. If they question you, tell them the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, considered to be the Bible for psychiatrists, now lists magnesium as a mood boosting agent!
