Dear Valued Subscriber,

Did you know that gastric bypass surgery is riddled with complications?Statistics from the National Institutes of Health after 14 years of follow up in subjects listed vitamin B12 deficiency, re-admittance for various reasons, incisional hernia, depression, staple line failure, gastritis, cholecystitis, anastomotic problems, dehydration, malnutrition, and dilated pouch as the most common complications.

Have a happy, healthy week. Bonnie and Steve Minsky

Great Chefs Love MSG and So Should You.

Bonnie: A few clients recently forwarded this article to us. Writer Karen Palmer lauds the benefits of monosodium glutamate (MSG). Chicago's own world-class chef Grant Achatz backs her up.

Aside from the shocking fact that Achatz uses MSG instead of creating his own umami through natural means, did he not have tongue cancer several years ago? Why would he continue to use and consume this synthetic chemical that is a known brain neurotranmitter tricker?

Surprising that world class chefs would cut corners like this. MSG is the easy way to achieve umami. There are so many other ways to activate umami. No wonder I felt awful after eating there.

As you can surmise, we vehemently disagree with Palmer and Achatz. After counseling for 28 years, I can tell you myriad stories of the devastation that MSG can incur on our organ systems.

Do you have a MSG story to tell? Please share it with Karen Palmer directly or we would be happy to share them on our eNewsletter.
