NCI Well Connect Mid-Week Brief
March 16, 2016
Dear Steve,

DID YOU KNOW that the aim of a study in the May issue of Appetite was to investigate whether chocolate intake was associated with cognitive function?

Of 968 participants, aged 23-98 years, habitual chocolate intake was related to cognitive performance, measured with an extensive battery of neuropsychological tests. More frequent chocolate consumption was significantly associated with better performance on the Global Composite score, Visual-Spatial Memory and Organization, Working Memory, Scanning and Tracking, Abstract Reasoning, and the Mini-Mental State Examination.

Just keep consumption at 72% or higher cocoa content please.

Have a happy, healthy day. Steve and Bonnie

Blood Type Bombshell
Steve and Bonnie: A study in this month's issue of Circulation followed over one million healthy subjects over a 35 year period, looking for increased risks of venous thromboembolic and arterial disease in ABO blood groups.

Compared to blood group O, non-O blood groups were associated with higher incidence of both venous and arterial thromboembolic events. Non-O blood groups explain more than 30% of venous thromboembolic events.

In layman's terms, this is an increase in blood clots and stroke for blood types A, B, and AB.

The medical field has basically ignored the link between blood type and health. This, in our opinion, has always been a huge miscalculation.

Don't freak out if you are not an O blood type. Blood type O's do have the oldest blood type, hence, their DNA is heartier. Yet, if you avoid the main dietary reactors that are associated with your blood type, in our opinion, you can minimize risk of these maladies. Of course, you have to be vigilant!

Why Is This Graphic So Important?
Bonnie and Steve: If one or more of these boxes are yellow or red, then you have genetic deficiencies that may impair your ability to break down and move toxins from your body. The great thing is that you can prevent impairment with diet, lifestyle, and nutrient modification.

Twinlab Quercetin + C on Long-Term Backorder
QuercetinPlusC
While this should not come as a surprise given the issues Twinlab has had keeping items in stock over the last 18 months, we have been notified by Twinlab that Quercetin + C in both sizes will not be available until August at the earliest. In addition, Twinlab Allergy C has been discontinued and will no longer be available.

To prevent these frequent occurrences, we are looking into the possibility of making our own Quercetin + C product, much like what we did with Alka Support. This process however, will take at least two to three months.

In the interim, we have individualized alternatives:

MOST ECONOMICAL OPTION:
Pure Encapsulations Ester-C & Flavanoids
-Contains quercetin and rutin, both wonderful antinflammatory flavanoids that also enhance the action of vitamin C. A bit less quercetin than what was in the Twinlab.
-One capsule for one capsule exchange
-If taking for allergies, you can add extra, separate Quercetin during the height of the season.
-If taking for severe inflammation, then you can add one or two more Quercetin capsules.
-Ester-C is well tolerated for mild to moderate corn intolerants.

IF SEVERELY CORN INTOLERANT:
Pure Encapsulations Quercetin AND Ecological Formulas Vitamin C-1000 (tapioca source)
One to two capsules Quercetin AND only one vitamin C is necessary.

FOR PURELY ALLERGY REASONS:
Metagenics Sinuplex
-Mirrors the old Twinlab Allergy Fighters the most.
-Cannot take if pineapple sensitive.
We appreciate your continued patronage and support.

Have a happy, healthy day,
