Best Protein for Absorption?

From eNewsletter 7/10/2023

DID YOU KNOW that the United Nations weighed in on the importance of animal protein?

Animal protein is a key ingredient of healthy diets and sustainable food systems according to a new report titled "Contribution of terrestrial animal source food to healthy diets for improved nutrition and health outcomes," released by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. The report also discusses the ability of animals to utilize land unsuitable for crops along with their vital contribution to improving and vitalizing soil health.

With regard to bioavailability, a new study from Nutrients compared the same serving size of animal protein (pork) versus plant protein (black beans or almonds) and found the plant proteins were far less bioavailable than animal protein in young and older persons alike.

Why Assess Toxic Load?

Steve: The rising tide of environmental chemicals in our air, water, and food chain alters the human exposome from conception through old age. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the exposome is the measure of all the exposures of an individual in a lifetime and how those exposures relate to health.

The list of toxic exposures can be mind-numbing. In the US alone, over 3,000 chemicals are made and released into the environment at amounts over 1 million pounds each year.

Unless you live in a bubble, which we do not recommend, gauging how toxic exposure will affect you based upon your genetics and lifestyle choices help us gauge how aggressive you need to be with preventive or immediate measures to reduce your toxic load. We always try to assure that these measures fall within the confines of normal daily living.

One general paradigm to aspire to? Find the cleanest possible methods to breathe, drink, eat, and apply substances to your skin.
